Home Services Marketing

Home Services Marketing That Turns Searches Into Booked Jobs

Local SEO, Google ads, a website built to convert, and follow-up that answers every call and form before your competitor does. One system for plumbers, electricians, cleaners, landscapers, and pest control pros, reported on booked jobs instead of clicks.

In Short

AM Creative Marketing is a digital marketing agency in Amesbury, Massachusetts that helps home service businesses get found online and book more jobs. Founder Jon Almas runs one program covering local SEO, Google Business Profile management, Google Local Services Ads, website design, and automated follow-up through AM Connect, our CRM. Clients are plumbers, electricians, cleaning companies, landscapers, pest control operators, and other residential trades, most of whom built solid businesses on referrals and then found they were invisible the moment a homeowner opened Google or asked ChatGPT who to call. The agency is rated 5.0 across 37 Google reviews. Everything runs month to month, and you own your website, content, Google Business Profile, and ad accounts from day one.

We started on the North Shore and we work with service companies across the country, because local search behaves the same way in every market. We report on calls, forms, and booked jobs, and we tell you where each one came from. If you also need marketing for a local business outside the trades, the same foundation applies.

The Problem

Why isn't your home service business showing up?

You do good work. Your customers say so. But the homeowner three towns over searching at 9pm has never heard of you, and the company that shows up first gets the call before you ever know the job existed.

Most home service owners we meet are not doing nothing. They are doing five disconnected things that nobody is measuring.

  • Rented leads. You are renting the work instead of owning the source. A shared lead costs real money and lands in four inboxes at once. The customer picks whoever calls back fastest, and you paid either way.
  • A one mile radius. Google shows a different map pack in every neighborhood. Ranking in your own town means very little if the towns you actually drive to never see you.
  • Slow follow-up. A homeowner who fills out a form at lunch and hears nothing by dinner has already booked someone else. Speed beats polish almost every time.
The Growth Engine

What does a home services marketing agency actually do?

Four things, run together as one system. Any of them alone underdelivers, which is why we stopped selling them separately.

Get found: local SEO and the Google map pack

Your Google Business Profile gets built out properly, with real service categories, geotagged job photos, and a review process that keeps new ones coming in. Then we build service pages and town pages so you rank across every community you serve, including the ones an hour from your office. Our local SEO program also covers how AI assistants describe your business, since a growing share of homeowners now ask ChatGPT or Google's AI before they ever see a list of blue links.

Get calls now: Local Services Ads and Google Ads

SEO compounds but it takes months. Managed advertising covers the gap. Google Local Services Ads sit above everything else and charge per lead rather than per click, and the Google Guaranteed badge does real work for a trade nobody has heard of yet. Google Ads pick up the searches LSAs do not cover. We dispute the junk leads, watch cost per booked job rather than cost per click, and turn spend down when the schedule is already full.

Convert: a website built for estimate requests

Most home service sites are brochures. Yours needs to load fast on a phone, put your service area and your phone number where a thumb can reach them, and make requesting an estimate take under thirty seconds. We build or rebuild it as part of the program, so there is no separate website project and no large upfront bill.

Capture: AM Connect follow-up

AM Connect is our CRM and it is the piece owners tell us they feel first. Every missed call gets an automatic text back. Every form submission starts a follow-up sequence. Review requests fire automatically once a job is marked complete. Every call and form arrives with its source attached, which is also how we prove what the marketing earned instead of guessing at it.

Who We Work With

Which home service trades do you work with?

The mechanics carry across the trades. What changes is the ticket size, the urgency, and what counts as a good lead, so the plan changes with them.

Plumbing

Plumbing and drain companies

Emergency searches convert in minutes, so speed to answer decides most of them. We split the urgent work from the planned work, because a burst pipe at midnight and a water heater replacement next month need different pages, different ads, and different follow-up.

Electrical

Electricians and smart home pros

Panel upgrades, EV charger installs, generators, and whole home rewires carry real ticket value and long consideration windows. Those homeowners research first. Pages that answer permitting, code, and cost questions honestly are what get you shortlisted.

Pest Control

Pest control and wildlife removal

Pest work is seasonal, recurring, and driven by fear. Carpenter ants in April and mice in October are two different campaigns. We build the calendar around your pest pressure and lean on reviews, since nobody lets a stranger treat their house on price alone.

Cleaning

Cleaning and restoration services

Carpet, upholstery, tile, air duct, and move-out cleaning all get searched differently, and most cleaning sites lump them into one page. Separating them is usually the fastest ranking win available. Before and after photos do the selling once people land.

Landscaping

Landscaping, lawn care, and hardscaping

Recurring maintenance pays the bills and design or hardscape jobs pay the year. We market them as two different offers, then use the slow season to build the pages and reviews that make the spring rush land on you instead of the guy with the cheaper truck.

Other Trades

Not on this list?

Water treatment, garage doors, appliance repair, chimney sweeps, junk removal, and pool service all run on the same foundation. If your growth depends on people nearby searching for what you do, the same foundation applies, and we can walk through yours on the call.

Proof

What does this actually produce for a home service business?

Numbers from one program, with the client, the dates, and the sources attached.

12x Search visibility

1,814 to 22,911 monthly Google impressions in six months.

85% More incoming calls

48 tracked calls in March, up 85% from the month before.

21 Website forms in a month

Completed contact forms in March, on top of the phone calls.

1.9 Average position

"Dryer duct cleaning" holding the top of page one.

Figures are for a duct and dryer vent cleaning company in Salisbury, Massachusetts, over the first six months of the program. Sources: Google Search Console, call tracking, and the AM Connect CRM. Results are specific to this client's market, services, and execution. Individual outcomes vary based on market conditions, competition, budget, and commitment to the marketing process.

Straight Answers

The two questions every owner asks first

Neither has a single right answer, so here is how we actually think about them.

What should a home service business spend on marketing?

7% to 10%

Of gross revenue is where most established home service companies we work with land. A company holding steady in a market it already owns can sit at the bottom of that range. One trying to take share from an entrenched competitor, or opening a new service area, usually needs to run above it for the first year and then settle back down.

The number that matters more is cost per booked job. A $4,000 month that books eleven jobs beats a $2,000 month that books three, and only one of those is visible on an invoice.

What is the most cost-effective lead source for home service contractors?

Local search

Google Business Profile and map pack visibility, paired with Google Local Services Ads, produce the lowest long-run cost per booked job for most home service businesses. The map pack costs nothing per lead once you rank, and LSAs charge per lead rather than per click with a dispute process for the bad ones.

Shared lead marketplaces are usually the most expensive way to buy a booked job, because you are buying the same lead your three competitors just bought. They have a place when you need volume this week, but they should never be the foundation.

How We Work

Our four step lead generation framework

Same order every time. The foundation goes in before anything gets turned up, because volume pointed at a leaky system just wastes money faster.

1

Catch what you already have

AM Connect goes in first. Missed call text-back, form follow-up, and review automation start working in the first couple of weeks, usually before any new traffic arrives. Most businesses find leads they were already losing.

2

Fix the foundation

Website rebuilt or optimized, Google Business Profile cleaned up, listings corrected across the major data providers, and technical issues resolved. Unglamorous work that everything after it depends on.

3

Build visibility

Service pages, town pages, and answers to the questions your customers actually type. Links and citations pointed at the pages that make you money. Profile posts and review generation running on an ongoing basis.

4

Add fuel and measure

Ads layer on when the foundation can hold them. You get a written report with calls and forms by source and what happened to each one, plus a call to decide what changes next.

Transparent Pricing

What does home services marketing cost?

One core program covers the base. Add-ons go on top when they earn their place. Month to month, and everything we build stays yours.

Starts at $1,597/mo

Web Presence & AI Search Growth, priced to your market. One-time setup runs $500 to $1,500, scoped on our call. Month to month after that.

See full pricing
  • Your website. Built new or rebuilt from what you have, hosted, maintained, and improved over time. No separate build cost.
  • Search visibility. Local SEO, Google Business Profile management, and the work that gets your business named in AI answers.
  • AM Connect follow-up. AI response, missed call text-back, review automation, scheduling, and follow-up on every new call and form.
  • Reporting you can read. Calls and forms by source and what happened to them, with written analysis rather than a dashboard you have to interpret.

Add ad management, social media, or video and creative on top when you need them. Add-ons typically run an additional $500 to $1,500 per month depending on what you turn on. Ad spend is separate and paid directly to the platforms.

We do not sell SEO on its own, and we do not build one-off websites. We used to offer smaller packages and retired them, because a partial program looks like progress on an invoice without moving a business in a competitive market.

Questions

Home services marketing questions, answered

How long does home services marketing take to work?

The lead capture side pays off almost immediately. Missed call text-back and automatic follow-up start recovering leads you were already losing within the first couple of weeks.

Search visibility is slower. Meaningful movement usually shows up in the three to six month range, and it compounds after that. How fast depends on your market and how much ground there is to make up. Anyone promising page one in thirty days is either buying ads or selling you a report.

Do I have to sign a long-term contract?

No. Everything is month to month after the initial setup, and everything we build stays yours if you leave, including the domain, the website, the content, and the ad accounts.

What we do ask is that you come in committed to several months. This work compounds, and judging it after thirty days tells you very little about where it is heading.

What is the difference between Local Services Ads and Google Ads?

Local Services Ads sit at the very top of the results, above the regular ads and the map pack. You get screened and background checked, you carry the Google Guaranteed badge, and you pay per lead rather than per click. Bad leads can be disputed and refunded, which we handle for you.

Google Ads charge per click and cover the searches LSAs do not, including research-stage terms and the specific services LSAs do not categorize well. Most home service businesses do best running both, weighted toward LSAs for urgent work.

Do you only work with home service businesses in New England?

We're based in Amesbury, Massachusetts, and a good share of our clients sit on the North Shore, in southern New Hampshire, and in southern Maine. Knowing the towns helps when a page needs to name the right neighborhoods and the right local rules.

The work is not limited to the region. Local search behaves the same way in Ohio as it does in Newburyport, and we run programs well outside New England.

Who owns the website, the accounts, and the lead data?

You do. The domain, the site, the Google Business Profile, the ad accounts, the analytics, and your customer records are all in your name from the start.

Worth asking because plenty of agencies rent you a website and keep the keys. We put ownership in writing, and any agency worth hiring will do the same.

Do I need a new website to get started?

Not always. If your current site has good bones we optimize what is there and build on it. If it needs to be rebuilt, that is part of the program rather than a separate project with its own invoice.

Either way there is no large upfront website bill, and you are not stuck on a platform you cannot leave.

How do I know the marketing is actually booking jobs?

Every lead lands in AM Connect with its source attached, so a call from the map pack and a form from a Google ad are two different lines in your report, not one number labeled "leads."

You get a written report showing where calls and forms came from and what happened to them, and a call to walk through it. When something is not working, we say so in the report rather than waiting for you to notice.
