What did the website look like before AM Creative?
It was a template site that looked finished and did almost nothing. Our audit in March 2026 found about eight to ten pages, only three of them in Google, and roughly seven visits a month.
The site ran on a template website builder. More than 20 blog posts had been added from July to November 2025, written with the platform's AI tools, and none of them brought in a single visit from search. The only two searches the site ranked for were versions of the business name. The service pages used template copy that never mentioned the owner, the towns he works in or what a project costs. The strongest thing on the site, a set of detailed customer reviews, sat in a rotating block on the homepage where few people would read it. The Google Business Profile had not been verified.
| Measure | Before (March 2026) | Now (August 2026) |
|---|---|---|
| Website | Template site, about 8 to 10 pages | Custom WordPress site with 65 live pages |
| Pages in Google | 3 | A full sitemap submitted, with service, town and guide pages drawing search clicks |
| Search visibility | 2 ranking searches, both the business name | 37 of 57 tracked local searches in Google's top 10 |
| Monthly traffic | About 7 visits (audit estimate) | 58 clicks from Google and 87 website users in August |
| Google Business Profile | Not verified, no reviews | Verified April 8, 7 five-star reviews |
| Pricing on the site | None | Owner-confirmed cost ranges on the service pages |

What was the owner looking for when he reached out?
He wanted a website that worked and a marketing partner who called him back. His last vendor had published AI-written content, communicated poorly and left him with nothing to show for it.
A rebuild he could build on
He asked for the site to be rebuilt on WordPress instead of staying on the template platform.
Presence in his own town first
West Newbury came first, then the nearby North Shore towns in his service area.
The projects worth his time
He pointed us at the work he most wanted more of: kitchens, first-floor remodels and ADUs.
Social media could wait
He chose to hold off on social media and put the budget into search, where homeowners were already looking for a builder.
What did the first six months look like?
The website came first, then the Google Business Profile, then one focused campaign at a time. Each step below is dated from the monthly reports.
- Feb 2026
First conversation
We talked through what went wrong with the last vendor and which projects he wanted more of.
- Mar 2026
Audit and rebuild
The old site was audited on March 2. The new site launched this month, built around the owner, with kitchen, renovation and ADU pages. It earned 10 clicks from Google in its first month.
- Apr 2026
Profile verified, first inquiries
The Google Business Profile was verified on April 8. The kitchen section and its town pages went live, clicks tripled to 31 and the first 4 inquiries arrived.
- May 2026
AI search becomes the top source
Home renovation pages for four towns launched. AI assistants sent 3 of the month's 6 inquiries, and "general contractor near me" climbed from position 16 to 6.
- Jun 2026
First booked job from a website lead
A three-month kitchen campaign started. The owner confirmed his first signed project from the new lead flow, and reviews reached seven.
- Jul 2026
Homepage and kitchen page climb
Clicks reached 60 for the month. Homepage clicks went from 11 to 24, and the main kitchen page moved up almost ten positions.
- Aug 2026
Kitchen town pages hit page one, exterior work added
The West Newbury and Topsfield kitchen pages moved onto page one. The owner added premium siding, cedar shake and decks, and the new siding page was indexed within weeks.
- Sep 2026
Still compounding
The site passed 54 clicks from Google in the first 23 days of September, close to all of August.
How did search traffic and inquiries grow after the rebuild?
Both climbed month over month from a near-zero start. Clicks grew almost six times between the first month and August, and inquiries went from none to nine a month.

New inquiries each month
Earlier months Most recent month
Where did the inquiries come from?
AI search sent the most. Eleven of the 33 inquiries came from homeowners who found the builder through ChatGPT or another AI assistant, more than came from Google search or from referrals.
The site still has little link authority. What it does have are pages that answer the questions homeowners ask: what a kitchen costs in their town, how the Massachusetts ADU law works, how a deck gets built on the North Shore. AI assistants tend to pull from pages like that. See how AI search optimization works.

Which pages moved the most in Google?
The kitchen town pages moved the most. Both went from pages four and five of the results to page one in a single month, following a month of authority building and cleanup aimed at the kitchen section.

How did the builder go from zero reviews to seven?
The Google Business Profile had to be verified before it could collect anything. Once that happened in April, reviews started coming in from recent customers, and each one got a reply.
Seven reviews came in by the end of June, all five stars. Two came from trade professionals, a cabinet company and a kitchen and bath design firm, who refer work to the builder. Homeowners read that kind of endorsement closely. Our approach is on the reputation management for builders page.

"AM Creative Marketing has done a phenomenal job on my website and SEO work. They are extremely easy to work with and have been attentive and professional. I previously was working with a larger company who promised the world with no results. Jon and AM Creative Marketing have done the exact opposite. My website and leads have far exceeded my expectations and we have only just begun. Highest recommendations for Jon and the AM Creative Marketing team."

What does the rebuilt website do differently?
It puts the owner, the towns and the price question on the page, and it sends every inquiry into one place.
- An owner-led homepage. The owner is the person homeowners meet, so the homepage says so and puts real reviews beside the first call to action.
- A page for each service. Kitchens, home renovations, additions, ADUs, decks and premium siding each have their own page, written around that type of project and the questions homeowners ask about it.
- Town pages for the North Shore. West Newbury, Newburyport, Ipswich, Amesbury, Hamilton, Topsfield and nearby towns each have their own page, and each links up to the service it supports.
- Owner-confirmed pricing. Cost ranges the owner approved sit on the service pages, so homeowners arrive at the first call already knowing the budget fits.
- Guides that answer real questions. Kitchen cost guides by town, a Massachusetts ADU law explainer and a deck construction guide, each linking back to its service page.
- AM Connect behind every form. Each inquiry is logged with its source and gets text and email follow-up, which is how this page can show where all 33 came from.
This is the same approach we use for website design for contractors and SEO for construction companies.
What still needs work six months in?
Three things, and each one is in the plan for the fall.
Page one is not the same as clicks
The main kitchen page now shows on page one for several statewide and "near me" kitchen searches, but it earned almost no clicks in August. The next fix is how that page appears in search results.
Reviews have been flat since June
The count has held at seven for two months while projects kept finishing. A short review request at the end of each job is the easiest gain left.
Link authority is still early
A six-month-old site has few other websites pointing at it. That limits how far the most competitive pages can climb, so authority building stays focused on a few pages at a time.
What do general contractors ask after reading this?
How long did it take to see results after the rebuild?
The first inquiries came in the second month. Clicks from Google tripled from March to April as the new site was indexed, and the first booked job from a website lead came in June, month four. Pace depends on the market and on how much ground a business has to make up, and this builder started from almost nothing in search.
Can AI assistants like ChatGPT really send a contractor inquiries?
Yes. For this builder they were the largest single source, 11 of 33 inquiries from April through August 2026. AI tools lean on many of the same signals as Google, so the work overlaps with local SEO. Our AI search optimization page explains how it works.
What does a program like this cost?
Our core program, Web Presence & AI Search Growth, starts at $1,597 per month with a one-time setup scoped on the strategy call. It covers the website, local SEO, AI search visibility and AM Connect. Plans are month to month. The details are on our pricing page.
Do you work with general contractors outside Massachusetts?
Yes. AM Creative Marketing works with design-build firms and general contractors across New England and takes on construction companies anywhere in the US. If you are outside our area, we help you vet a local photographer or videographer and give them a shot list, so your site and social content still show your real projects.
More builder results are on our construction marketing results page, and the full service overview is on construction marketing services.
